Lush Cosmetics. Super fun vegan natural products

When I was in Chicago, my cousin and I took a walk downtown and were headed into a mall when we spotted the coolest little shop.  Well, it wasn’t so much a shop, per se, just a corner of a department store.  I think it was Macy’s but I cannot be sure.  The store was called Lush Cosmetics

We had been going to seminars and heard speaker after speaker talk about marketing strategies and such.  Lush Cosmetics not only has a cool product, they have a great sales pitch.  The cutest little rockabilly chick came right up to us and got our hand lathered up in the natural soaps and there were bowls full of water all over.  After a few minutes of sniffing the soaps and giggling about how fun these products are, they called the attention of all the shoppers and demonstrated the bath ‘bomb’.

Fun fun fun.  I was very excited to hear they had a website. yay.

Great Parks, we are so lucky

I just got back from a LONG road trip to visit relatives all over the southeast.  The furthest North we went was Chattanooga Tennessee.  We took our time and never rushed.  I took my daughter to parks all over the place.  She is two and to her, a park is a park.  Me, I’ve become a connoisseur of parks.  I cannot help but to compare them or judge them.  And what I’ve discovered is that the best ones are right here at home.  We went to one in Huntsville Alabama that just appalled me.  It was a brand new park and completely made of shiny metal!  I could understand if it were an old park because maybe they hadn’t made advancements in the quality of plastics yet, but Brand New?  It is July, so all of the equipment had a potential to give you a third degree burn.  It is very difficult to explain to a two year old that she cannot climb on anything and that she just has to run in circles because some engineer somewhere is a complete do-do head.

We are back home now and went to one of my favorite local parks yesterday.  I love that my county is so wonderful with their parks.  Almost al of them have big tarps over them and they are made of hard plastics or they are painted in the kind of finish that doesn’t get hot.  Most of them have sprinklers or misters for the kids to run around in, and covered seating for picnicking.

I wonder what it is, have we better engineers?  Is it because we are outside all year around?  Is it that Floridians really understand the danger in prolonged sun exposure?

I guess it is one more thing to chalk up to the list of reasons that my mortgage is so high.

Just curious

I’m curious about something.  Why is it that Barak Obama is constantly being referred to as a “black” man?  He has a black father and a white mother.  So, why does that make him black?  Wouldn’t it be funny if the media referred to him as a “white” man?  It is entirely possible.  He is just as much a white man as he is a black man.

Not that it matters.  It certainly doesn’t matter to me what color someone skin is, but it just seems a little odd that he is represented in this way.

Kinda like the “African-American” thing.   How anyone who has black skin is referred to as an “African American” when not everyone with dark skin is a descendant of Africa.  People think I’m being silly when I say that my daughter is an African-American but even though her skin is white, she really is an African-American.  I’m an American, her father is an African, therefore she is an African-American.

I guess it is just one of those weird things that we do.  Who knows.

I totally feel this way.

I rarely believe the clips that I see because it is very easy to manipulate things with soundbites, but this one is precicely how I feel.
